Hello, happy Sunday, July 17th.
We are at the point where life is starting to get crazy. Selling our home was one stressful hurdle but it couldn’t have gone better. Our strategy was to price low with the hopes of buyers starting a bidding war to bring the price up. The market in KC is slowing down and we knew we had to get it done ASAP but whether it would work was unknown. Luckily it went exactly as planned with 40 showings in two days and 8 offers, 6 of which were above asking. We ended the weekend right where we wanted to be and it was a huge relief.
Now on to the real challenging part – buying a home in LA. The LA market has the same intensity but at three times the cost. It’s insane, the options are limited, and they go fast. Marco and I both flew out to hunt this week seeing about 10 houses. All of them had potential but the majority had big flaws. We ended the weekend with one offer sent out and we have been anxious wrecks since.
At this current moment, it is completely out of our hands and we just have to wait. Waiting is freaking hard! This house is all we can think about while not wanting to think too much about it because it isn’t ours yet. We will see what happens and everything will work out how it is supposed to.
This upcoming week I start majorly cleaning out our stuff. We are selling every piece of furniture except one vintage lamp and our dining room chairs. Besides personal items, art, and items we use every day (like kitchen stuff) we are selling every single thing in this house. Our goal is to pull one Uhaul with our stuff back to California and that’s it.
🚨🚨If you are in the Kansas City area and are interested in furniture, lawn tools, kitchen stuff, etc. we will be having a huge sale in a few weeks. Send me a message for more details! 🚨🚨
The idea of selling all of your stuff might make some uneasy but I love it. It feels good to get rid of items that you don’t use and starting fresh in a new home is exciting. My anxiety about having a place to live is getting the best of me so I’m going to keep it short. Lots of food content for you below in today’s newsletter and I’ll have more updates for you next week. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Did you watch The Bear on Hulu? Listen to the creator and his chef sister talk about how it was made.
I walked over to Jon & Vinny’s but didn’t have any pizza or pasta. Instead, I was there for breakfast. A BLT with egg and a brûléed grapefruit. Perfection.
Curry powder! Specifically S&B Oriental Curry Powder. A Japanese curry powder that has been around since the 20s. It is layered with flavor from its 17 ingredients Tumeric, Coriander, Fenugreek, Cumin, Orange Peel, Pepper, Chili Pepper, Cinnamon, Fennel, Ginger, Star Anise, Thyme, Bay Leaves, Cloves, Nutmeg, Sage, and Cardamom. You can find it online and in most Asian markets. This is my go-to recently for Grilled Chicken Burgers and Curry Chicken Salad.
Talk to you next Sunday! Xx M
I like the kitchen with the brick and I LOVED The Bear!! Best of luck to you in your house hunting!
