As a girl who lives for a theme to decorate and celebrate, Halloween doesn’t do it for me. Like I mentioned before, I love a good googly-eyed pumpkin and my spooky moss wreath but all the other cheesy decor I can do without. I actually love scary movies but we watch them year-round and life is scary enough that I pass on haunted houses now. Halloween is a holiday for kids and I’m sure my feelings will change when I have one but unless I’m hosting a Halloween party, I’m just not that into it.

The one thing I do look forward to is candy. I don’t have any restrictions with sweets but I rarely buy processed chemical-filled candy…except around Halloween. I have a little glass skull that I fill up for “guests” and my go-to is always Reese’s.

The chocolate is actually trash. It’s overly sweet and waxy with no real chocolate flavor. The only thing that keeps me coming back for more is the salty pop of peanut butter in the center. The two components balance each other out and it just works.

So today, in time for Halloween, I have a Chocolate Peanut Butter Tart recipe. My grown up take on a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. We are using dark chocolate, salty peanut butter, and Cocoa Puffs cereal for the crust. This recipe is the perfect afternoon baking project and is so good that it will be gone fast!

Before we jump in I want to share some lyrics with you guys. My neighbors were kind enough to taste test a few versions of this tart and it moved them so much they wrote a little song. Here it is:

Creamy peanut butter chocolate tart

A moment on my lips but forever in my heart

Covered with peanuts and flaky salt

I ate the last piece but it’s not my fault

It’s so dang good I just couldn’t resist

If you touch my chocolate tart, ima be pissed

Oh peanut buttery chocolatey tart

(This crust is darker because this was the test round with chocolate wafer cookies)

I think that tells you guys everything you need to know about this tart but here are a few technical details to help you assemble it is ease.
